New Tony Hawk's Pro Skater games confirmed by the man himself

New Tony Hawk's Pro Skater games confirmed by the man himself

It is back!

There is no denying that the early 2000s were somewhat dedicated to the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series and despite not having received a brand-new entry in a while, that may soon be set to change.

At least, according to the man himself.

Check out our review for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 & 2 below!

Kicking off back in 1999 with Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, the skateboarding video game series went on to receive multiple follow ups as well as spin-offs, ports and re-releases.

More recently, this included the series returning under Activision in 2020 which resulted in a remake of the original two entries in the series.

As one of the most popular and best-selling video game franchises of the early 2000s, it is no wonder that fans hope to see its revival.

That is why a recent statement by Tony Hawk himself has caused quite the commotion.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, Hawk took to Instagram to address fans over the weekend.

“The original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater was released exactly 25 years ago today. My intention and expectation for the game was mostly for the enjoyment of skateboarders,” the statement read.

I had no idea it would transcend a niche market to become a massive success and – as some have argued – change the course of skateboarding’s popularity (and possibly even skate trick evolution).

It definitely changed the course of my life, and is a big reason that I get to ride my skateboard for a living to this very day.

And most of the featured characters are still out there ripping and representing skateboarding’s diversity in the best ways possible…

I poured myself into every aspect of this project because I believed we were creating something exceptional, and I am immensely proud of the series that followed… and their soundtracks.

Thanks to Activision, Neversoft (RIP) and all of you that played THPS in those formative years. I’m not supposed to tease anything else about the future of the series; but there will be a future.”

Despite not revealing too much about what we can expect, we now know for definite that there is a future for the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series.
