CD Projekt Red has said that we will soon have word on the release of the new-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and accordingly, fans have been sent into a frenzy.
Only last week was the Canis Majoris project unveiled to be a whole remake of The Witcher in Unreal Engine 5, which had us scrambling like a set of ghouls when they see Geralt rock up to a battlefield with his silver sword. "The game is currently in the early stages of development at the Polish studio Fool’s Theory, where veteran Witcher series staff are involved.
"We, as CD Projekt Red, are providing full creative supervision," it said. This is exciting enough, though plenty of people are still after the new-gen version of the game that got them into the series.

The Witcher: Blood Origin is a show set more than a thousand years before the events of the main storyline, and has an utterly stacked cast. Check out the trailer below!
In September, CD Projekt Red reiterated that progress on this version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was proceeding as planned and that it would be in the grubby mitts of gamers in the fourth quarter of this year. That's between the months of October and December. When a nosy player asked when the game would be dropping, the official The Witcher Twitter account replied, "soon," with a winking face.
Of course, "soon" could mean within the next five minutes or the next five weeks and fans expressed their puzzlement with memes. Additionally, CD Projekt Red has been reluctant to share anything concrete about the new version of the game, other than it has been "enhanced" for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. That would comprise a 60 frames per second setting, I'm sure, and it has said that there is some Netflix themed content on the way too.
