When CD Projekt RED’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was first released in 2015, it became an instant classic of the RPG genre. What’s more, it seemingly didn't matter if gamers had previously played the two original games or not because the third game sold millions of copies worldwide.
Roughly seven years after its release in 2015, CD Projekt RED then treated us to the free next-gen update for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. So surely, this beloved fantasy RPG couldn't get any better, right? Well it can, as long as you have a beast of a PC.

“You are Geralt of Rivia, mercenary monster slayer. Before you stand on a war-torn, monster-infested continent you can explore at will. Your current contract? Tracking down Ciri — the Child of Prophecy, a living weapon that can alter the shape of the world,” reads the synopsis of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

The modding community on PC is more vibrant now than it ever was bringing new content, gameplay and visual overhauls, bug fixes and more to the games we love, and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is no exception. The mod that is the topic of discussion today is ‘W3EE Redux’ and it’s available to download for free now via Nexusmods. This mod is so big, that it almost makes The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt feel like a whole new game.
W3EE for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is: “A continuation and NextGen compatibility update for the great W3EE (5.03). Versions for both NextGen and OldGen. Includes a new toxicity system, dozens of new enchantments, updated skills and alchemy items, reworked witcher gear and relic swords, new set bonuses, and many small balance changes.”
The description above does not do this mod the justice it deserves and just by glancing at its dedicated Nexusmods page, you’ll soon see the devotion that has gone into creating this massive mod, so thank you, mod creator, Kolaris.
Sadly, as is the nature of most mods, ‘W3EE’ is only compatible with PC and not consoles. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is out now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
