Few things in the world of entertainment get fans as hyped as the comic book worlds crafted by the likes of Marvel and DC, which is why fans are extra hyped with the announcement of Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra.
However, there is another comic book world that excites its fans and that’s The Walking Dead created by Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore. In 2010, The Walking Dead was adapted into a successful live-action series from AMC which would last 11 years with 177 episodes. The Walking Dead also spawned multiple spin-off series, the most recent being The Walking Dead: Dead City and The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon premiering in the US in 2023. Speaking of which, the UK is still waiting, AMC. Another series is airing now, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, so there’s certainly a lot of zombie goodness to enjoy.
Check out the Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra trailer below!
When the first trailer for Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra was revealed featuring Captain America and Black Panther, it got the internet buzzing. What’s more, not only is it powered by Unreal Engine 5, but in charge of the project from development studio Skydance New Media is Amy Hennig, the creator of Naughty Dog’s Uncharted series. So Hennig alone instantly raises expectations.

“In the chaos of war, worlds collide. Captain America and Azzuri, the Black Panther of the 1940s, must overcome their differences and form an uneasy alliance to confront their common enemy. Fighting alongside Gabriel Jones of the Howling Commandos, and Nanali, a Wakandan spy embedded in Occupied Paris, they must join forces to stop a sinister plot that threatens to turn the havoc of WWII into the ultimate rise of Hydra,” reads the synopsis of Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra.
As soon as we saw Black Panther in the trailer, fans of The Walking Dead would have instantly recognised a familiar voice. That voice belonged to Khary Payton, who of course played King Ezekial from 2016 to 2022 in the live-action series.
King Ezekial is one of the most charismatic characters in The Walking Dead, both in the comic book series and live-action adaptation. He’s an amazing actor and knowing that he’s playing a leading role in Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, I won't be surprised if he totally steals the show.
