Once upon a time, The Matrix took the world by storm. The combination of advanced filming technology, a hyper-futuristic tone and sleek action caught everyone by surprise, and a franchise was born.

Of course, with The Matrix relying so much on computer technology, and its style owing so much to bombastic action films, a video game was inevitable. In fact, we ended up with a few games, but one has recently come up in conversation over on Reddit as a game fans would love to see get a remake.

The Unreal Engine 5 tech demo made us want more from The Matrix

Posted to Reddit with a simple message saying “I can’t be the only one” referencing The Path of Neo and wanting a PlayStation 5 remake. This was the cue for lots of fans to jump in and agree. “It was an awesome game! I'd lose my mind if we got a Matrix game on the PlayStation 5! Especially as Neo!” says one user with a lot of enthusiasm. Another user jumped in declaring their love for the game, “My favorite game of all time. Would KILL for a remastered version.”

For the launch of the most recent Matrix film, Matrix Resurrections a tech demo was released for Unreal Engine giving a lot of gamers a taste of what could be, so of course this is mentioned a lot through the thread conversation, “Maybe could get an updated game with the new Unreal engine like the demo we got of the Matrix in it not too long ago?”

Hopefully, we can get a taste of the franchise in some way, whether that be a full remake, or even a remaster of The Path of Neo, or its partner release, Enter the Matrix, which was just as popular. If the creators have more story to tell, doing so through an updated version of this title would be brilliant.
