The Last Of Us 'next-gen' gameplay trailer roasted by fans

The Last Of Us 'next-gen' gameplay trailer roasted by fans

Flogging the dead

Sony has been showing off ‘new ways to experience’ their games at the recent CES expo, showcasing a huge interactive stage where players can be fully immersed in gameplay.

This isn’t just a rumbling controller and VR, this is a room covered in LED panels that display moments from games to take players inside a PlayStation game.

The Last of Us season 2 will be airing in April 2025

The tech giant released a YouTube video to show off the footage - while not really saying how any of us could ever experience it - and focused on a harrowing scene from The Last of Us.

Of course, fans have eagerly watched this ‘next gen’ footage and felt that it was a lacklustre showing.

“Umm what else you got?” commented one YouTube viewer.

Another fan hits on one issue with the idea, “Looks cool, but why not just use VR? Oh right, Sony hates their own VR solution.”

As a PSVR 2 owner, I have to agree. While this does look like a very cool experience, it also looks very niche, and Sony could utilise the tech they’re insistent on selling.

“Look we all hate people playing when it's clearly staged, but dear god maybe take some video of people having FUN,” comments another, focusing on the use of actors.

A comment from mr.marvin hits out at Sony by saying, “Jesus, all Sony cares about is Horizon, Last of Us, and God of War. THEY HAVE MORE IP's do something with them.”

Along the same lines, Treq4Trak says, “Now how can we still milk this game for more than a decade? We did remasters, remakes and now what. VR? No, no, no I have a better idea.

Hopefully, this will be something fans can have a go at in person, with maybe a VR version down the line, for now, fans just aren’t impressed.
