I don’t know about you, but I can’t stop thinking about The Last of Us. So far, the show has been a perfect adaptation of Part I, and despite knowing the entire story from the game, the weekly waits for each episode still feel so long.
The Last of Us’ second episode saw HBO’s biggest ever week-on-week increase in viewership, and it’s not hard to see why. Every member of the cast has been phenomenal, and the whole thing has been so good that it's been making Uncharted and Halo fans jealous that their adaptations didn’t hit the same standard.
Check out what’s coming up next on The Last of Us below.
It’s all thanks to following the source material though, and what a brilliant base the showrunners had to work with. Fans are still anchoring after The Last of Us Part III - Naughty Dog hasn’t actually confirmed whether it’s in development, but the success of the first two games would certainly imply that it’ll happen at some point.

Over on Reddit though, some fans have got different ideas for the future of the series - specifically, for it to go back to the past. On the r/thelastofus subreddit, user Fxresx wrote: “Getting a PREQUEL for TLoU would be a great idea tbh. Who agrees?”
Everyone is fully on board with the idea: “I'd actually love to see what happened to Joel and Tommy right after Sarah died and watch the virus take over the world but not at the expense of the end of the story,” MamaSweeney24 wrote. “I think seeing all the horrible things Joel did to survive and keep Tommy alive would be great right after Sarah dies. In the game Tommy says ‘I got nothing but nightmares from those days’ and Joel says, ‘You survived because of me.’ Let us see those nightmares lol,” replied Fiercelion564. “I would love a prequel about Bill’s or Tess’ story tbh. Like how they got to where they are in Part I and how they met up with Joel. We get some of it through notes and the like, but a game would be cool,” added Benvanalles.
This concept could definitely work either as a new game or a spinoff of the TV series - it’d be a great way of spending some extra time with the characters and fleshing them out further. Hopefully, Naughty Dog and the showrunners are listening to all this.
