A Steam RPG that was supposed to release years ago, is now offering refunds to those who preordered the game prior to delays.
Vampire: The Masquerade: - Bloodlines 2, is the long-awaited sequel to the 2004 game Vampire: The Masquerade. The original game had a difficult launch, only selling around 100,000 copies despite favourable reviews from critics and fans. It faced steep competition upon release, as 2004 is largely considered to be one of the “best years for gaming ever”, with big-name titles like Half-Life 2, Halo 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, which further affected sales.
After a long hiatus, the sequel entered production and has seemingly been stuck in development hell ever since. The follow-up was officially announced in 2019, and was given a release date of 2021, which obviously didn’t go according to plan.

Following several delays, publisher Paradox Interactive has finally shared an update in the form of a blog post, saying; “It’s been quite a while between updates while we’ve had our heads down working on the game. We remain just as dedicated to delivering a great Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines game as we were when we announced, and are looking forward to showing you more in September this year”
The statement was accompanied by new screenshots of gameplay, further confirming that development is finally picking up some momentum prior to the full release.
Unfortunately, it’s too little too late for many fans who made their preorders for the game in 2020, and are yet to get their hands on the game three years later. Paradox addressed the painfully long wait in its statement, saying: “We acknowledge it was a long time ago that many of you pre-ordered Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 …. We are thus offering refunds to anyone who has pre-ordered any edition of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2.

“As part of this process, we are proactively refunding all pre-orders of physical products, including the Collector’s Edition. The digital versions of the First Blood Edition, Unsanctioned Edition and Blood Moon Edition remain, but can be refunded if you choose.”
Hopefully, the upcoming sequel is worth the wait for fans, though it’s more than likely many will be taking the opportunity to jump ship now that refunds are becoming available.
