Starfield: cheapest pre-order by far also comes with free download

Starfield: cheapest pre-order by far also comes with free download

Let's save you a few quid on Starfield while bagging a free DLC download!

Keeping up with the expense of our most highly anticipated video game releases can be a costly hobby. So it’s always nice to not only save a few quid but also get a bonus freebie.

After decades in the making, the release of Bethesda’s sci-fi RPG is nearly upon us and fans couldn't be more excited. In fact, fans are so excited for the release of Starfield, that the perfect sick day excuse is already being conjured.

So as we prepare for the big launch, let’s try saving you a bit of money as well as bagging a free pre-order bonus download. Firstly, as reported by Digital Spy, it doesn't matter which version of Starfield you pre-order, you will be gifted with the ‘Old Mars Skin Pack’ which bags you the Laser Cutter, Deep Mining Helmet and the Deep Mining Pack. This means that whether you buy Starfield at the highest or the lowest price, you’ll still get this free download.

At the time of writing, the standard edition of Starfield can be picked up for just £52.88 from Hit.co.uk. That’s a saving of £17.11 from its £69.99 RRP. As for the PC release, CD Keys is selling Steam codes for just £44.99, a saving of £10 from its £59.99 RRP.

Better still, if you are somehow able to beat Starfield within a month, it will cost you just £6.29 to subscribe to Xbox Game Pass by picking up a code once more from CD Keys. Though it’s worth keeping in mind that this route won’t back you the pre-order DLC.

Come launch, you’ll have a number of options available from the Starfield Standard Edition to the Premium Edition and the Constellation Edition. The Premium Edition consoles with the Shattered Space Story Expansion, the Constellation Skin Pack, as well as a digital art book and soundtrack.

If you buy the standard edition, you can upgrade to Premium Edition digitally for £34.99/$34.99. However, buying this upgrade in its physical form will also bag you a steelbook case and Constellation Patch. At the time of writing, the cheapest price I’ve spotted for the Premium Edition is at Shopto at just £30.85.

Whereas the Constellation Edition bags you all of the above, but also the Starfield Chronomark Watch and Case, and the Credit Stick with Laser-Etched Game Code.

In related news, fans have launched a Starfield 60fps petition, but may not understand how games actually work.

Starfield will be released on 6 September 2023 for PC and Xbox Series X|S. That’s unless you pick up the Premium or Constellation Edition, in which case, the release date will be 1 September 2013.
