It is yet another rough time for Ubisoft after it has been revealed that an important mission in the upcoming Star Wars Outlaws will be locked behind a paywall.
Despite only being in April, 2024 is already shaping up to be a bad year for Ubisoft. After its recent release Skull and Bones received a less than stellar reception when it was released this February, talk has now turned to its upcoming project, Star Wars Outlaws.

Set in the Star Wars universe, Star Wars Outlaws is the first ever open-world game in the franchise which tells the story of outlaw Kay during the period between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.
With many fans of the sci-fi series excited, today that excitement may have dwindled a bit after it was rumoured that its Jabba the Hutt mission will be locked behind a paywall via a Season Pass.
Although it is not uncommon for companies to lock some missions behind a Season Pass, having such an integral mission being inaccessible during the base game is not a good look. Additionally, with Outlaws expected to already be around £60, a Season Pass charge on top of that will not be possible for every player.
According to the Star Wars Outlaws official website, the Season Pass will offer “two additional narrative expansions” post-launch as well as a “day one exclusive mission with Jabba”.

“Just as Kay is putting together a crew for the Canto Bight heist, she receives a job from Jabba the Hutt himself,” the mission reads. “Turns out that ND-5 owes Jabba a debt from years ago, and he has come to collect.”
The mission is expected to feature a series of quests which means that players without access to the Season Pass will miss out on a hefty chunk of the story.
However, with Ubisoft yet to elaborate on this news, there could be more to it than we first expect. Luckily, we will find out when Star Wars Outlaws is released on August 27, 2024.
