A last-minute delay means that fans have to wait even longer for the release of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, but an update on the future of the series certainly makes things seem a bit sweeter.
Survivor is set five years after the events of Fallen Order, and will see Cal Kestis face off against a chunky purple lad called Rayvis. As a member of the Gen’dai race, he’s pretty much indestructible, so Cal’s going to have his work cut out taking him down.

Anyway, it doesn’t sound like Survivor will be the end of Cal’s story. In an interview on IGN Unfiltered, game director Stig Asmussen said that a third game is definitely on the cards if the sequel sells well enough - in fact, a trilogy was already being considered before Fallen Order’s release.

“We were already talking about the second game. I mean, frankly, we were talking beyond,” Asmussen said. “And these are conversations that, when we're breaking this story with Lucasfilm, it's like: 'Well, where are we going with the second game?’
“I always wanted to see this as a trilogy. How can we take Cal and the crew to new places beyond what we were doing in the first game?” he continued. “We had a pretty decent idea of timeframe where we wanted Survivor to take place, what the stakes were going to be, what the tone of the game was going to be, what Cal was going to be up against, and how the crew was going to factor into that. And there's ideas of what we could do beyond that as well.”
If a third game does happen, Asmussen said that “it's a pretty safe assumption” that it’ll be developed in Unreal Engine 5, so it’ll look extra shiny. Hopefully, Survivor’s sales will be good enough to encourage EA to give the threequel a green light.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will release on PC, Xbox Series X/S and PS5 on 28 April.
