Just a few days ago, we knew next to nothing about the sequel to 2019’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and now look at us. What a lovely week this is.
In case you’ve been living under a rock, I am of course talking about all of the updates to come out of Star Wars Celebration. Respawn Entertainment dropped the first trailer for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor along with a release window of 2023. One developer has now spoken out about how Cal Kestis’ latest journey will take on a much more “menacing” tone. Consider me intrigued.
Yet to check out the trailer? Who am I kidding? Treat yourself, and watch it for the hundredth time. You know you want to.
During a new interview with StarWars.com, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s director Stig Asmussen said, “The game is all about survival. That’s why it’s called Jedi: Survivor. They are in dark times, and Cal and the crew are doing whatever it takes to stay alive. That might mean that they are making connections with people that, in other times, might be considered unsavoury.”

Asmussen went on to add, “Some of that is portrayed in the trailer, and again, I don’t want to give anything away, but there’s definitely a sense of… I don’t want to spoil anything, sorry!” A sense of what?! What a way to leave us hanging.
A major focus of the trailer is the mysterious figure in the bacta tank. Fans believe the figure to be Starkiller, a former apprentice and personal assassin of Vader. This is just a theory but it did sound like Asmussen was about to say that the trailer really does showcase those “unsavoury” alliances he teased, which backs up the Starkiller theory.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor also has a major connection to the Obi-Wan Kenobi TV series as both titles are set 10 years after Revenge of the Sith. Cal could appear in Obi-Wan Kenobi, or will Obi-Wan make a cameo in next year’s Fallen Order sequel? We’ll just have to wait and see.
