What’s on the top of your gaming wishlist? Gears of War 6? The Last of Us Part III? An Uncharted reboot? A God of War Ragnarök sequel because Valhalla left you desperately craving more?
It could well be all of the above. I know one title many of us are itching to see made is Spyro The Dragon 4. Ah, sweet Spyro. The little purple fella was easily a titan of my childhood. I would play through Spyro The Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage, and Spyro: Year of the Dragon over and over again. Given that I was a single-digit age, I can’t say that I was good at any of those titles, but I had a nice time playing them. That’s what made 2018’s remastered Spyro Reignited Trilogy so delightful. I, like so many, got to replay those nostalgic favourites but with some actual skill this time around. Since then, plenty of us have been awaiting Spyro’s comeback.
Take a look at Spyro Reignited Trilogy in action below.
This year, Spyro celebrated its 25th anniversary - plus the character made a return of sorts in Crash Team Rumble. We’re all waiting for Spyro 4 though. Admittedly, I’m surprised that the franchise’s 25th anniversary passed by without an announcement. Our hopes may not be completely dashed. Toys For Bob just posted a mysterious new photo and fans think it may be hiding a fresh Spyro teaser.

The tweet read, “We took some time out to get together and share our latest experiments in UE5 - it was a full day of excellent presentations with plenty of learnings and fresh ideas for the new year,” accompanied by a photo of a bunch of devs gathered around a blurred TV - and yes, it’s the blurred TV that’s drawn attention. What are they hiding?
As Reddit user MineWeb125 suggested, “The bottom screen is clearly a Zoom call but the big screen is some kind of presentation.” Seeing as the blurred screen is very purple, fans quickly jumped to conclusions. “Please be Spyro 4,” one wrote, while another added, “Don’t give me hope, bro.”
It’s by no means confirmation of a Spyro 4. I do find it hard to believe that Toys For Bob wouldn’t be interested in creating such a highly demanded game. We can only cross our fingers and hope.
