South Park: The Stick Of Truth far better than it had any right to be, say fans

South Park: The Stick of Truth is an awesome RPG

It’s quite baffling to think that the South Park animated series is still going strong to this very day since it premiered back in 1997. Yet, the writers continually remain on top of current pop culture topics with its signature boundary-crossing humour.

To capitalise on the ever-rolling success of South Park, its universe has far expanded beyond the world of TV and a movie bringing us countless pieces of merchandise that fans will gobble up like a mutant turkey.

We’ve also had plenty of video games released on the Nintendo 64, SEGA Dreamcast, original PlayStation, right up to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and more. For better or worse, some of the South Park adaptations have been stronger than others. However, perhaps the strongest of the video game offerings is 2014’s South Park: The Stick of Truth and 2017’s The Fractured But Whole.

“What licensed game had more effort put into it than you'd expect there to be?” asked Codemeist3r while sharing an image of the box art for South Park: The Stick of Truth, developed by Obsidian Entertainment.

“I found out Obsidian was involved in South Park: The Stick of Truth and was shocked. It explains why the game was better than anyone expected,” said existential_j. “Yeah, I remember being stunned by how good it was. I expected it to be full of dumb jokes and references, but the fact that it was also a legitimately good RPG was so unexpected,” replied

“I actually just finished playing Stick of Truth for the first time just yesterday and holy crap, it highly exceeded my expectations,” exclaimed Genericname42. “It was obvious how much effort Obsidian put into it,” with grilld-cheez declaring “South Park: The Stick of Truth is such an amazing game.”

If you’re itching to play a new video game in the South Park series, then you’re in luck. Developed by Question and published by THQ Nordic, South Park: Snow Day is a budget-priced 3D RPG co-op game coming to PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch on 26 March 2024.
