Happy Elden Ring weekend. How are we all? Anyone actually slept since yesterday? I genuinely wouldn’t be surprised if the answer was no - people have been waiting a long time for this, and I think it’s safe to say that it’s been worth it. You need only cast your eyes upon the countless 10/10 reviews to know that (including our own) - it looks like we might have already crowned the game of the year, and we’re only in February.
Unfortunately though, it’s not been smooth sailing for all players. A lot of people have been reporting performance issues, particularly on the PC version of the game. Its Steam reviews are currently Mixed, and according to the complaints listed there, gamers have been experiencing frame rate issues, crashing and stuttering.

However, in a post published on their website yesterday, Bandai Namco apologised for the issues, and have promised that fixes are on the way: “Thank you very much for playing Elden Ring and for your feedback. We are currently experiencing some issues that are preventing the game from playing properly under some conditions,” they wrote. “We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and ask for your patience.”

Some of the problems currently being worked on include the mouse being too sensitive in the PC version, and the anti-cheat service failing to launch if a user’s Steam account names includes kanji. Additionally, a patch is being developed to fix a problem where the game sometimes doesn’t save properly on the PS5 version.
Fear not, the frame rate issues haven’t gone unaddressed, either: “Regarding the phenomenon of frame rate and other performance-related issues during gameplay,” they wrote. “We will be constantly working to improve the game so that it can be played comfortably on various PC environments and platforms.”
It’s understandable that there’d be a few issues like this at launch, when you consider not only how massive the game is, but also how many people are playing it - obviously problems are going to be found when there are so many thousands of gamers going at it to potentially discover them. Rest assured that if you are experiencing any of them, fixes are on the way.
