A Skyrim player has made a horrifying discovery in Windhelm that many of us may have missed.
Despite being 14 years old this year, players are still noticing new things in the most popular entry in the beloved Elder Scrolls series, Skyrim. It’s one of the reasons why players still can't get enough of the popular fantasy RPG from Bethesda.
Check out the Skyrim Anniversary Edition trailer below!
Perhaps not so much due to the huge map size of Tamriel, but rather its diverse cast of NPCs and seemingly randomised events, to this day, Skyrim continues to be the gift that keeps on giving. Not to mention new life is continually infused into the game by its ever-vibrant and talented modding community.

However, one player has noticed a subtle event in the vanilla game that depending on whether you get creeped out by mannequins, may alter your perspective on this Windhelm house.
Like seriously, mannequins never used to bother me whatsoever, until I played the criminally underrated 2005 Xbox 360 horror game Condemned: Criminal Origins and then a certain section in the Resident Evil Village DLC, Shadows of Rose.
“Are the mannequins in my Windhelm house supposed to be…. alive?” asked the concerned Redditor marinalindsey. “I’ve never seen anything like this before. All three mannequins seem to be alive, breathing, looking around. When you click on them, they take a stance and stay there. I haven’t seen this at any of my other houses."
Thankfully, there is a rational explanation (at least by The Elder Scrolls standards) as to why these mannequins behave the way they do.

“They are technically NPCs, so this can happen,” said Unusual_Car215 calming some nerves before Kamidzui replied, “I once had a mannequin that started changing poses each time I got inside the house. It creeped me out quite a lot.”
“Technically, they’re NPCs who aren’t supposed to move, but sometimes they glitch and do the ‘standing’ animation,” explained grumblebeardo13.
“Mannequins are NPCs, the first time I saw them, it scared the crap out of me,” exclaimed dexter_boja.
So there you have it, if a mannequin starts moving in Skyrim, now you know why. Though I doubt it will creep you out any less.
