Is anyone else really struggling to get through their backlog at the moment? Maybe it’s because so many good games have been releasing this year, but it feels like no matter how much I play, I can never get through everything. Then again, that’s probably my fault for starting Persona 5 Royal amongst everything else.
Anyway, if you’d like to make your backlog even bigger, GOG.com is currently offering a sci-fi shooter for free for a limited time. Once you’ve claimed it, you’ll be able to download and play it at any time.
Steam is also full of some incredible free downloads at the moment, including the demo for the promising Metroidvania title, Ebenezer and The Invisible World. Take a look at the trailer below.
The freebie in question is Hell Division. Set in a cyberpunk metropolis, players must pilot “lethal drones” to take on “dynamic air battles”, and uncover the story behind the conflict of two greedy corporations. There’s a total of six in-game locations to discover, with a bunch of different missions to face. The “sophisticated enemy AI” will also apparently keep you on your toes throughout.

Admittedly, the reviews for Hell Division are pretty mixed - some recent ratings have given it quite a slating, with a number of people criticising its controls. Even so, it costs nothing to try it, so you might as well give it a go if you’re interested. However, it’s not clear how long you have to claim the game for free, so be sure to grab it sooner rather than later. You can find it here.
If Hell Division isn’t really your thing, loads of new free games have been added to Steam recently, and many of them look genuinely lovely. From retro-style action-adventures, to narrative exploration games and arena fighters, we’ve been spoilt for choice. Take a look at our latest roundup of Steam freebies right here.
