It sounds like Resident Evil 9 is going to be a huge graphical leap above the others.
Revealed at Summer Game Fest on Friday, Resident Evil Requiem is Capcom’s next mainline Resi game following 2021’s Resident Evil Village.
It features a return to Raccoon City, as well as a new protagonist Grace Ashcroft—the daughter of Resident Evil: Outbreak’s Alyssa Ashcroft.

Capcom has teased that this new iteration of Resident Evil will feature a "significant evolution” with its graphics, and will be able to deliver “visuals with cinematic realism that vividly convey characters' emotions and offer an unprecedented level of immersion.”
Features like “lifelike facial expressions”, “realistic skin textures”, and “high-fidelity sweat droplets” are cited as being a part of these graphical upgrades.
Capcom has used RE Engine for every game in this series released since Resident Evil 7: biohazard, and the company has spent time upgrading it to a next-gen version called RE neXt, with Requiem potentially using this upgrade.
Since this will also be the first Resident Evil game on ninth-gen consoles to leave last generation hardware behind, it’s clear Capcom will utilise the core strengths of the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S without having to worry about supporting older hardware.

So if you’re a big Resi fan and still have a PS4, it might be time to think about upgrading your system.
This will be the same for PC, as we imagine the minimum specs may jump up quite dramatically.
We also bet on it having some big optimisations for the PS5 Pro, with it being the most powerful console available right now.
In addition to extra graphical detail, this could also mean bigger playable areas, faster loading times, and more advanced character AI.
