Red Dead Redemption is one of gaming's most beloved franchises and fans will always be itching for more wild west goodness.
There have been rumours that Rockstar Games had planned on remastering the original Red Dead Redemption of 2010 as well as Grand Theft Auto IV. Sadly, those plans were reportedly cancelled as the developer shifted its focus to the upcoming GTA VI. However, it was later claimed that both remasters were not cancelled, but were instead paused.

In a twist to the tale, it’s been suggested that not only will GTA IV be remastered or remade, but a Red Dead Redemption remake will be released by the end of this year. It’s worth keeping in mind that despite Rockstar Games all but confirming the existence of the RDR remake due to a website domain update, the developer hasn't come out to officially announce either game.

Yet, with the internet being the internet, rumours will always run rampant until official confirmation is made, but even that might not be enough to stop the rumour mill from spinning. That being said, the latest rumours should be taken with a pinch of salt.
Courtesy of the ‘GamingLeaksandRumours’ subreddit, an alleged info dump not only claims a Spring 2024 release window for the Red Dead Redemption remake, but it will also include the Undead Nightmare expansion. Oh, and two apparent screenshots of the remake were also shared.

At this point, it’s the worst-kept secret that the Red Dead Redemption remake is on the way. What’s more, it’s not outside the realms of possibility that it would also include Undead Nightmare. In fact, I’d say most of us would be surprised if neither were true. However, when it comes to the apparent screenshots, that’s something not worth taking at face value and the screenshots in question have been called out as being fake by Reddit users.
The Reddit thread is full of users claiming that the alleged remake screenshots are simply taken from Red Dead Redemption 2, which of course features many of the same locations as the 2010 game.
“Yeah, definitely from RDR2,” said godzilla1992. “I feel like if someone were to leak actual images, something more convincing would be screenshots of the Mexico map with actual props and NPCs included.”
Some have even called out the images as being some kind of remaster mod, perhaps not too dissimilar to this gorgeous 4K/60fps mod. “These are literally just in-game screenshots of RDR2 using the Project New Austin mod,” claimed suika_suika. “Out of all of the places that would've helped prove this, you don't choose Mexico? Decent bait, I guess.”

Hopefully, whether the Red Dead Redemption remake arrives late this year or at some point in 2024, Rockstar Games will put us all out of our misery soon.
