It seems like after over a decade of waiting, Red Dead Redemption will finally get the love and respect that it deserves with its upcoming new release.
The original Red Dead Redemption was released in 2010 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and became an instant classic in the ever-vibrant Rockstar Games library establishing itself alongside the likes of the Grand Theft Auto series. In Red Dead Redemption, you play as John Marston who is trying to leave the life of crime behind to provide the best life for his wife and son.

As you can imagine, John Marston’s intentions do not go according to plan and his hopes of leaving his former comrades of the infamous Dutch van der Linde gang in the rear-view mirror fail miserably. 2010’s Red Dead Redemption was only topped by its prequel that arrived in 2018 but now and again, it’s nice to take a trip down memory lane.

Sadly, if PC gamers are just restricted to a single platform, they’ve not been able to play Red Dead Redemption, because unlike Red Dead Redemption 2, the original game has never been released on PC. Well, at least not yet.
Thanks to an update on Rockstar Games’ PC launcher, it seems that Red Dead Redemption is finally coming to PC, 14 years after it was released on consoles. It’s unclear whether this will be a straight-up port like the recent PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch release or whether it will come with some additional bells and whistles.
However, if Red Dead Redemption is finally released on PC (and it’s looking likely) and it is an underwhelming port, you just know that the talented modding community will have it covered. While it might be too much to expect a full fanmade remake, it’s not outside the realms of possibility that modders will at least give us a glorious remaster.
Can you imagine how good Red Dead Redemption will look with ray tracing and path tracing technology as well as improved character models and environmental textures? And that’s not even taking into account all the weird and wacky mods that will eventually be released.

Who knows, perhaps Rockstar Games will release some sort of enhanced Red Dead Redemption port but either way, talented modders will likely Top Trump the GTA VI developer at some point. As they say, watch this space.
