Coming from out of nowhere, an update for Red Dead Redemption has brought with it a selection of improvements, one of which being 60 frames-per-second.
While it's a feature that is constantly asked for across many games, fans have asked again and again to squeeze more frames out of the classic Rockstar game. Well, this morning, seemingly out of nowhere, Rockstar pushed out a new update for its western classic.
Take a look at some of the best Red Dead Redemption 2 wins and fails below!
Within the patch are "General bug fixes, stability fixes and improvements." It's not until you start up the game and head into the options that you can see a '60 frames-per-second' option has been added to the game. Talk about burying the lede.

While we haven't been able to test it ourselves, several players are commenting on the new patch and confirming that the game now runs smoother. Interesting to note that the patch is only available for PS5 currently, via backwards compatibility.
Of course, this improvement now has Redditors asking when Red Dead Redemption 2 will receive the same treatment, given that it's the more popular game. Though many are lamenting that it took so long to bring the feature to RDR, we could be in for a long wait to see RDR2 improved in the same way.
Given Rockstar is likely focusing hard on GTA VI and a possible trailer coming soon, we may not see this kind of patch for RDR2 anytime soon. But then this one was a shock, so who can really tell. It's great to see the addition made and hopefully more studios begin to retroactively add in 60fps options to their older games.
If you want to give this update a try, it's out now for PlayStation 5. No word has been given on whether PS4 and PS4 Pro will see the same update, at this time.
