Red Dead Redemption 3 may not have been officially confirmed yet but that hasn’t stopped fans from hoping that an announcement will arrive… one day.

However, with Rockstar Games hard at work on Grand Theft Auto VI, it is no wonder that a potential Red Dead Redemption 3 is taking a back seat.

Nevertheless, fans have unearthed an interview with the voice of John Marston himself, Rob Wiethoff who shared his thoughts on a potential third part to the much-loved story.
Although Wiethoff acknowledged that Red Dead Redemption 2 was the “end of an era”, he also shared his thoughts on the story either going back in time for a potential prequel or more into the future but leaving behind the Wild West genre.
If a prequel was on the cards, he would like to see the events of Blackwater and more specifically, what made all of our much-loved characters agree to follow Dutch.
“It would be interesting to know Dutch”, he said. “Before he met Micah… For me it’s like, how did Dutch and Hosea find a way to make that many people believe in him and trust him and want to follow him and stay with him?”

For “selfish reasons”, Wiethoff would also like to see more of John Marston, whether it be when he is old and out of the game or even younger during a potential prequel. However, he also acknowledges that the latter may see a different actor get cast as the role.
Regardless of what happens in a potential third instalment, it is clear that there is a lot more story to tell and it remains to be seen which characters will be making a reappearance in the future.
