One thought springs to mind; we should’ve known.
In case you’ve missed it, several of Red Dead Redemption 2’s cast members have spent the last week or so teasing something big.
Well, as it turns out, their and our interpretation of ‘big’ is vastly different.

It all began when John Marston actor Rob Wiethoff said the following during a stream of Red Dead Redemption 2: “I’ve got such exciting news. I can’t share it with you right now and it’s absolutely killing me, [but] by the end of this week, hopefully sooner - not this week, not as soon as tomorrow, but definitely before Friday.”
He continued, “Oh my goodness, the news that I have to share, and I won’t be the only one sharing it, I cannot wait for you to know what’s going on - and that’s all I can say. I’m not tryna be … that’s the only thing I can think about [...] especially while playing this game.”
Charles Smith and Arthur Morgan actors Noshir Dalal and Roger Clark, respectively, then joined in, teasing to be in on the announcement.
Why did fans get their hopes up? Leaker NateTheHate had recently surfaced to say that a new-gen version of Red Dead Redemption 2 was reportedly in the works and due to drop later this year, bringing 60fps to the game.

As such, fans believed that the various teases from the cast might be related to that.
We should have known that wasn’t the case; Rockstar’s NDA’s are airtight.
It instead looks like the cast were teasing a reunion at the National Gaming Expo in Tampa, Florida, due to be held from 8 to 10 August 2025.
Weithoff, Dalal, and Clark will join up with other prominent cast members for panels and meet and greets, and while that’s lovely, fans do feel a bit cheated.

Did the trio take advantage of the 60fps update speculation? Or was this just unfortunate timing?
“Was this the announcement Rob was so excited for?” asked Reddit user keysnsoulbeats, adding an image of the expo announcement.
“I think so,” replied Savings_Ad_1595.
“We’re cooked chat,” added EshayAdlay420.

Others pointed out that the expo reunion had been teased prior to this.
To clear up any confusion though, Wiethoff has since surfaced online to say that his announcement is nothing to do with Rockstar Games.
All of this aside, just because the cast’s teases have nothing to do with the rumoured 60fps update, it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.
Is that the copium talking? Maybe, but I’ll get my fingers crossed that NateTheHate was truly onto something.
