It is hard to believe that, despite the success of Red Dead Redemption and Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar has yet to confirm the next instalment in the Red Dead series.
However, after setting such a high bar when it comes to storytelling and gameplay, it is no surprise that Rockstar is perhaps feeling the pressure to make a potential Red Dead Redemption 3 as good as its predecessors.
Check out the launch trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2 below!
With Grand Theft Auto VI set to release later this year, we can assume that the studio will be turning its attention to its next project soon.

Could that be Red Dead Redemption 3, perhaps?
Well, it remains to be seen but in the meantime, fans have recently taken to r/reddeadredemption to share their thoughts over whether a third instalment would actually be worth it.
“Should there be a Red Dead Redemption 3?” one post read. “Do you guys think Red Dead 3 should be a thing, or are you satisfied with what we got?”
The question soon prompted a discussion with some fans revealing that they are eager for more, whilst others believe that they would like to see more in the same world, but perhaps with a new name and a new story.

User TheMadMan007 wrote, “I'm 100% satisfied with both Red Dead 1 and 2. But there should absolutely be a third game. It doesn't/shouldn't be a sequel or prequel, we don't need that. It should start an anthology series, where the game takes place in the same fictional universe, but in a different location and follow a whole new set of characters and stories.”
As the top comment, it seems as though plenty of users agree.
That includes user RazkaTaz who added, “There should be a new RDR [Red Dead Revolver], not RDR3.”
Last but not least, user hortys seemingly summed it up for the majority of the users in the thread.

“I'd rather they not do a Redemption 3, but I certainly want another Red Dead Game,” they wrote. “Red Dead Retribution or something. All new cast, no direct narrative ties to the previous titles, set in the same established universe, like the Van der Linde gang exists but is not a significant part of the story. I'd also rather it be set prior to the events of RDR2 at the height of the WILD west, not the death of it.”
It remains to be seen what Rockstar has in store.
