I think we’re all still recovering from the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 gameplay reveal from yesterday’s PlayStation Showcase.
Fans got a look at some of the new abilities Spider-Man and Miles Morales will be wielding, like the wingsuit, web-lines, new finishers and of course, the black symbiote suit, which looks monstrously powerful.
The suit will be a key focus of the PS5 exclusive, which promises to be a fully-focused single-player experience. The symbiote suit appeared to be morphing Spidey’s light-hearted and whimsical demeanour into a grumpy, rageful, and, at times, cruel attitude. A well-known trait in Marvel symbiotes is their ability to change the personality of their hosts, as well as physically transform them into terrifying creatures, like the Carnage version of Doc Ock from Spider-Man PS1. No quips came out of the webhead’s mouth in the recent gameplay, instead, he aggressively barked orders at poor Miles and threatened those who stood in his way.
But that wasn’t the only thing that was unveiled, we also got a first look at what’s presumably the main antagonist of the game, the ruthless Kraven the Hunter, whose voice actor has been revealed to be none other than Red Dead Redemption 2 star Jim Pirri.

The voice actor shared the news on his official Twitter account, saying: “Been stealthily sitting on this for years! Happy to finally announce I play #KravenTheHunter in #SpiderMan2PS5 Thx to all the awesome folks at @insomniacgames, @SonySantaMonica, And ofc my wonderful reps @SBVTalen who helped me track down and capture such a "worthy" role
Kraven will seemingly be hunting Spiderman, as well as his friends and some of his foes, like The Lizard, who was being pursued by Kraven’s forces in yesterday’s reveal in a spectacular chase down a river in New York.
Jim Pirri played Angelo Bronte, an Italian businessman and crime lord, in Red Dead Redemption 2. Bronte was a supporting antagonist who served as the main antagonist to Arthur Morgan and his gang in Chapter 4.

Seems like Kraven the Hunter is going to be quite a menace to Spider-Man and his beloved city, as his whole motivation in life is to be the world’s greatest hunter, collecting trophies from his poached victims using a range of sharp weapons, like knives, spears and axes. Looks like he’s received a high-tech upgrade for his debut in Insomniac’s best Spider-Man game yet, as he’s now sporting his own private army, drones, and armoured vehicles.
One thing is for sure though, Kraven will be in for the fight of his life if he tries to tackle Spidey while he’s wearing that symbiote suit…
