Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the greatest video games in recent memory, though some will stake its claim as the best game of all time and many would agree. However, as great of a game as Red Dead Redemption 2 is, it’s still not quite perfect.
Released in 2018 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, then the following year for PC, Red Dead Redemption 2 tells a prequel story of the 2010 game and in it, you play as Arthur Morgan, a leading member of the infamous Dutch van der Linde gang. What’s more, it also features the lovable protagonist of 2010, John Marston.

A little earlier, I eluded that Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption 2 isn't quite a perfect game despite garnering an almighty score of 97 on the aggregate website, Metacritic earning the “Must-Play” accolade. Don’t get me wrong, Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of my favourite video games ever but it could do with one or two improvements.

For starters, despite being backwards compatible on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, there’s still no new-gen update allowing the game to perform at a 4K resolution and 60 frames per second. Furthermore, the (pre)sequel doesn't have a New Game Plus which allows you to carry over all core abilities, money, crafted items, horses and more into a new campaign.
Thankfully, however, a talented modder has been on the case to give us the New Game Plus mode that we’ve been asking for in Red Dead Redemption 2. The modder in question is called sezzco and you can download the ‘New Game Plus’ add-on via Nexusmods right now.
Granted, this mod will not carry over all items and data, such as mission progression, acquired legendary animals and whatnot, but it does carry over all maxed core abilities, masks, clothes, holsters, legendary animal locations and more, all from your previous save file.
Sadly, as with the nature of most mods, this New Game Plus is only available on the PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2. As for the rest of us, we can continue to enjoy the Rockstar Games Wild West classic as intended.
