Something big could be coming to Red Dead Redemption 2, following some suspicious update activity on Steam.
There’s no denying that Red Dead Redemption 2 is fantastic. It’s arguably Rockstar Games’ best title to date, and even though it doesn’t quite have the staying power that Grand Theft Auto V does, it's still an untouchable masterpiece that’ll keep fans coming back for years to come.

That being said, as good as the game is, you can also argue it’s one of the biggest examples of wasted potential in gaming. Red Dead Redemption 2 featured an online mode that pretty much went nowhere, probably due to there only being so much new content to add to a game set in the past. GTA V Online has had several updates over the years, adding a variety of properties, vehicles, and absurd gadgets like flying bikes, whereas Red Dead Redemption 2 has to be a little more grounded. That being said, the game would have certainly benefited from an Undead Nightmare mode, and it’s a crime that one was never added.

However it does seem like something is cooking for Red Dead Redemption 2, as over the last few months there have been several updates for the game on Steam, more so than ever, despite it being released years ago.
These have been “backend” updates as reported by ComicBook, but fan theories suggest they could be setting up something big, whether it be a single-player expansion or a special event for the Red Dead Online mode. While it would be amazing to finally have new content to play, it's likely a pipedream, especially since Rockstar is all hands on deck developing GTA VI.
The only thing left to do is wait and see what happens. Rockstar has remained radio silent on the matter as usual, so fingers crossed the company has a pleasant surprise for us while we wait for GTA VI to release next year.
