To celebrate its fourth birthday, fans recently hailed Red Dead Redemption 2 as one of the ‘greatest games ever’ and rightly so. It's a game that looks like it could easily have been released in 2022. That being said, fans are still keen for Rockstar to release a PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S patch. That has to happen at some point, surely?
Rockstar did confirm one major bit of news earlier this year. No major content updates are planned for Red Dead Online. The announcement prompted the #SaveRedDeadOnline campaign, plus players held an in-game funeral to mourn. Well, I have some good news. It’s certainly not a major content update but Red Dead Online players are being treated to a little festive surprise.
Take a look at some very entertaining Red Dead Redemption 2 wins and fails below.
As published on the Rockstar blog, a fresh update has brought new limited-time rewards and activities to Red Dead Online. If you complete a player bounty, you’ll now get triple character and role XP, plus those who complete The Covington Emerald will earn double money XP. This boost runs until 2 January.

As it’s now December, Christmas is also coming to Red Dead Online. Christmas trees and snow will soon arrive in-game and players will also be able to get their hands on the Krampus Shotgun. Starting on 15 December, you’ll be able to participate in A Merry Call to Arms to earn triple money and XP. This too will run until 2 January. There’s no Rank lock between 13 December and 2 January.
There are also a ton of freebies available throughout December. All you have to do is log on to the game on certain dates. There’s a free coat, 2,000 Bounty Hunter Role XP, three gold bars, a red Leavitt jacket, a green Morales vest, and a free emote all up for grabs. If you head on over to participating in-game retailers, you can also purchase some festive yeehaw garb. For full details, head on over to the Rockstar blog.
