Prolific Grand Theft Auto leaker Tez2 has corroborated the report that there is a PlayStation 5 Pro and a new version of the Xbox Series X and S on the way, stating that these dev kits are already in the hands of AAA developers. Spicy.
In May, TCL Technology suggested that there would be new PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X models arriving at some point in 2023, offering native 8K support and 120Hz capabilities. Of course, neither Sony nor Microsoft have made any mention of upgraded versions of their new-gen consoles, however, other insiders have said that the hypothetical PS5 Pro is apparently set for 2024. Given that the PS4 Pro was released three years after the launch of the PlayStation 4, this really wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility.

Following a Grand Theft Auto VI speculation thread on the GTA Forums, one fan said, "Sony launching a new version of the PS5 (like a slim version) alongside GTA6 seems so more real now." In response, Tez2 revealed that it's likely that the studios that rule the roost in the industry - Ubisoft, Bethesda, Bungie, Rockstar Games, and so on - have received dev kits for the rumoured PlayStation Pro and the new Xbox Series X and S. "Most AAA studios should have received the dev kits of mid-life upgrades or should receive them by the start of new year," they shared, and added that they are "sure" this is the case.
Advert
Obviously, it's worth exercising a modicum of caution with this scoop as it has not been acknowledged by any official sources. Be that as it may, we are aware that Sony is readying up for a monster year for the PlayStation 5 in 2023, with more than half of shipments being the new model of the console. Watch this space.
