Power Rangers game revealed at Summer Game Fest, and it's so beautiful

The title was revealed during the Summer Game Fest showcase

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind has been revealed at Summer Game Fest 2024, and it looks to be a retro throwback to beat ‘em ups from the NES and SNES era of video games.

The game appears to be taking heavy inspiration from classic titles such as the old side scrolling retro Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles beat ‘em ups, which recently saw a resurgence with the release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Shredder’s Revenge. Interestingly, the game doesn’t appear to just be tapping into the nostalgia that people have for the beat ‘em up genre, but is also tapping into the nostalgia for the old racing levels that featured in the title, with the trailer showing off a ranger riding their way through a barren wasteland.

Take a look at the game in action below.

The main villain of the game, as readers might have gathered from the title of the game is the dreaded Rita Repulsa, who judging by the name of the game appears to be trying to change time so that she can reign as the supreme overlord of Earth, all while trying to get the Rangers themselves out of her word. Zordon won't let that happen though, which is where the Rangers come in, and where the player comes in choosing from one of the original selection of Rangers from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.

With absolutely beautiful pixel art graphics, and a cutscene artstyle that looks set to replicate the feel of the BOOM comics iteration of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, it’s likely that the title will turn a lot of heads when it releases in late 2024, especially for people who enjoyed playing through Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge.
