The people want Spyro 4 and oh boy, Activision knows it. Months after it was hinted that a new instalment in the franchise may be in the works, the publisher has only gone and done it again. So when is that full reveal coming, my guys?
In case you missed it, back in January, it was teased that Toys For Bob had seemingly commenced development on Spyro 4. Over on Twitter, the studio tweeted a 2023 graphic, captioned, “Big moves and big mood for 2023.” That graphic just so happened to feature an image of Spyro alongside a logo highlighting that this year marks the franchise’s 25th anniversary. That’s right. Not to make you feel old, but the original Spyro The Dragon released back in 1998. Surely, there’s no better time to release a new game in the series then - and now Activision have joined in with the teasing.
Who’s excited for Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores? The title is set to release next week.
As pointed out by Twitter account SpyroUniverse, Activision updated their banner over the weekend and the new design very prominently features our lad Spyro. In all fairness, Spyro isn’t featured by himself. The banner celebrates several of Activision’s biggest franchises including Pro Skater, Crash Bandicoot, and Call of Duty.
The remastered Pro Skater 1 + 2 released back in 2020. Call of Duty is, of course, seeing continued success thanks to Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0, while Crash Team Rumble launches in just a few months. Spyro certainly feels like the odd one out then, seeing as Spyro Reignited Trilogy is now five years old. At this point, I really wouldn’t be surprised if we saw a Spyro 4 reveal pop up during Summer Game Fest.

That’s what fans are hoping for at least. Twitter user SubjectWolf wrote, “If we don’t get an announcement I’m gonna cry. I need my purple boi to star in a new game,” while Starglosss added, “Pleeeeeaseee can we get one crumb of Spyro content?” A question I’d also like an answer to. Here’s to hoping.
