Pokémon: Aim to Be a Pokémon Master is a special series following Ash and Pikachu after the former has fulfilled his dream of becoming a world champion, visiting various characters and acting as a farewell for the two. In an adorable tribute to the anime, the opening scene matches the original frame for frame and that's not the only homage.
The poster also matches, but this time, it's populated with all of the Pokémon that Ash has collected over the 25 years. "Ash left Pallet Town with Pikachu and stepped into the world of Pokémon to be a Pokémon Master. This miniseries will focus on what it means for Ash's dream to be a Pokémon Master, and visiting his old friends and Pokémon," reads the description.
It's heartwarming that Ash is finally bidding the world of Pokémon farewell in such a wholesome fashion, and fans have noticed that the animators have pulled out all of the stops for this miniseries.

The opening is exactly the same as the original anime, though I must say I miss the gawkiness of Pikachu in the original. It goes without saying that there are a fair number of replies rinsing the newer animation saying it isn't as effective as the older one. I hate to say it, but time passes and things change, so shall we just appreciate the recreation as it is?

"One thing I notice here is, Ash looks more confident. 1997, Ash looks serious and dead set on winning, and 2023 he looks confident in his skills. Quite a contrast!" said Twitter user TinyAkeno. All's well that ends well, but you've got to admit, the eighth series protagonists have large boots to fill.
