Sony PlayStation is taking action against Microsoft over The Elder Scrolls VI Xbox exclusivity.

As part of Microsoft’s pending $68.7 billion takeover of Activision Blizzard, Sony has attempted to throw another roadblock in the seemingly never-ending bumpy road.

Without going into great detail, Sony is concerned that should Microsoft successfully acquire Activision Blizzard, it will have too much of a firm grip on the industry. If the takeover is successful (and it looks likely), the likes of Call of Duty, Diablo and Pimp my Ride will become exclusive to Xbox.

What’s more, Microsoft has already successfully acquired Bethesda, which came with a plethora of first-party titles, all of which are eligible for Xbox Game Pass. This means that Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, Dishonored and more are all first-party franchises for the green brand.

Furthermore, it also means that the upcoming Starfield, Redfall and The Elder Scrolls VI, as well as the next Fallout game, are unlikely to arrive on PlayStation. This, in turn, Sony seemingly has a massive issue with.

As reported by The Gamer (via GamesRadar), in recent documents provided to the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), Sony said: “Microsoft’s conduct in relation to the ZeniMax acquisition provides additional evidence of why a behavioural commitment should be approached with caution.”

The document also mentioned that Microsoft had promised investors that it doesn't “have intentions of pulling all of Bethesda's content out of competitor platforms.”

Prior to Microsoft acquiring Bethesda in a deal said to be worth $7.5 billion, the likes of The Elder Scrolls VI, Starfield, Redfall and the next Fallout would have come to PlayStation as well as PC and Xbox. Obviously, that will no longer be the case.

Back in June 2021, Bethesda senior vice president of marketing and communication, Pete Hines apologised to PlayStation fans disappointed that Starfield will not be coming to PS5.
