According to an insider, the game is already 70% complete, and we can expect it to be announced by the end of the year.

Ooh, we all love a juicy gaming rumour, don’t we? Of course we do, that’s why we’re here, after all. You’ve already seen it in the headline, so I won’t keep you in suspense - apparently, PlayStation will be bringing back a big series from the dead later this year, and it’s already mostly done.

No, I’m not trying to bait you into reading further by phrasing it like that, that is quite literally what’s being said. These claims come from @VGnewsinsider on Twitter, who wrote: “PlayStation rumoured to announce the return of an ‘extremely popular’ franchise in Q4 2022[,] with the game[’]s development rumoured to be ‘around 70% complete’.”

Speaking of PlayStation leaks, these water jets really did a number on these poor consoles. Poor transition? Sorry. Check it out though, it's really cool.

This claim was shared over on Reddit by u/robxkansel, and according to them, the insider has a pretty good track record with getting these sorts of rumours right. Apparently, they recently had their account taken down due to leaking the newly revealed Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

The thought of a popular series making a comeback is obviously an exciting prospect, but with so little to go on, fans have been left to speculate for now. And speculate they have - people on the Reddit thread the leak was shared on are going wild.

“So I’m thinking Jak & Daxter, Infamous, or SOCOM are my guesses here,” wrote PassiveProc. “Oh yes please. I've been waiting for a Jak sequel since PS2, it's been too freaking long!” added DeviMon1.

The timing for a Jak and Daxter comeback would actually be pretty perfect. In April last year, although they confirmed that they weren’t working on a game in the series at the time, Naughty Dog revealed that they’d love to make a new one. Not only that, but just last month, it was revealed that a Jak and Daxter movie is actually happening - it’s being worked on by Ruben Fleischer, who also directed the recent Uncharted movie.

Funnily enough, the confirmation of the movie came only days after Tom Holland, who played Nathan Drake in Uncharted (2022), said that he’d love for that exact film happen, and for him to play Jak. Coincidence? Probably. But regardless, it seems we’ve already got a pretty solid casting option there.

Anyway, the PlayStation leaker added that they have more information on the rumour, but are currently waiting to hear back from their source before they post anything else. We’ll just have to see what comes from it.
