PlayStation Plus subscribers are only just discovering a “true next-gen game” on the service’s Extra tier.
June has been a pretty good month for PlayStation Plus, with some great new additions to the Extra and Premium tiers, in addition to new free monthly games and other freebies. There was also the announcement of a new feature that’s currently being tested for PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers, cloud streaming. Once it’s been thoroughly tested and rolled out to the public via a system update, it’ll also allow Premium subscribers to stream select PlayStation 5 games, without needing to download and install them.
Additionally, one game that was previously added to PlayStation Plus Extra is just now being enjoyed by subscribers, and they’re hailing it as a “true next-gen game”. It’s none other than Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.
Developed by Insomniac Games, Rift Apart is a third-person shooter exclusive to the PlayStation 5. A Reddit post by Uniteddreamer drew attention to the Insomniac title, with the player saying, “I can’t believe I let this game slip by me.” It was met with dozens of comments praising the title, which received critical acclaim for its gameplay and graphics, which take full advantage of the PS5’s potential.

“A true next-gen game,” someone wrote, while another comment added, "I can't believe I let this franchise slip past me. Since playing Rift, I've gone back and played like four others. So much fun.” One subscriber commented, "Best PS5 game so far as far as utilising the actual next gen-ness.”
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart can be downloaded at no additional cost if you have PlayStation Plus Extra or Premium.
In other news, PlayStation users who are yet to upgrade to the PS5, and are also interested in what PlayStation Plus has to offer, could soon have the option of a console bundle that comes with 24 months of PlayStation Plus Premium at a discounted price.
