It is no secret that gaming is an expensive hobby and with video game prices increasing annually, it is getting harder to justify their prices. However, one small PlayStation “hack” may allow users to get their hands on some free store credit.
Recent years have seen an increase in not only PlayStation titles but also the PlayStation Plus service. As a result its members are less than pleased, especially considering the recent batch of free titles are putting hopes at rock bottom.

As a way of stopping fans migrating to Xbox, Sony has introduced the PlayStation Stars loyalty programme which rewards members with digital collectibles or points which can be exchanged for PSN wallet funds. Ultimately, hoarding points will allow you to purchase titles for ‘free’ which is worth the grind to save a bit of money.

Earning points can be done in a number of ways and many players advise saving up Star points to get PSN credit. They can be earned by completing monthly campaigns, custom campaigns and by purchasing items in the PS Store. To find which campaigns are currently running, you can head to the PlayStation Stars hub on the PlayStation app.
The campaigns consist of activities and challenges made for the community such as “in-game activities, online tournaments and exploring your console features.” You can also take part in custom campaigns which are “designed just for you, based on the games you like to play.”
Once you are a member of the Stars loyalty programme, you will begin as a level 1 member. Taking part in campaigns and other features will allow you to rank up with level four being the highest. Additionally, levelling up will reward you with collectibles.
Although it is quite the grind, accumulating enough Star points will ultimately reward you with a “free” game from the PS store. As a result, many members recommend becoming a Star member as opposed to subscribing to PS Plus as you will receive much better rewards and for a lot less money.
