PlayStation dropping major free RPG, and you don't need PS Plus

Breaking into the RPG market is no easy feat with so many incredible titles fighting over the top spot. However this upcoming RPG looter shooter is set to make quite a name for itself when it launches on PlayStation in just a few days.

Releasing worldwide on 2 July, The First Descendant is a “next-generation third-person co-op action RPG looter shooter” created in Unreal Engine 5.

Set to arrive on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, players will take on the role of a Descendant who, after inheriting mysterious powers, will have to fight to protect their homeland from an alien invasion.

With gameplay focused on “grind and growth”, The First Descendant will offer players a lot to stick their teeth into at launch including five new fields, 16 types of end-game content called Instance Dungeons, 16 types of large boss raids known as Void Intercept Battles and more.

Most importantly, 19 Descendants will be introduced which includes 14 original Descendants and 5 high-performance versions known as Ultimate Descendants.

For example, players can pick Bunny; an iconic mascot known for sporting a pair of bunny ears on her helmet. Bunny wears a suit that can discharge electrical currents which allows her to run at incredible speeds. She can also concentrate the energy into releasing powerful beams at her opponents.

Since The First Descendant was released in open beta last year, it has undergone significant graphical improvements and it is clear creating this RPG in Unreal Engine 5 was the right move.

Last but not least, players will be able to team up for co-op missions with up to four descendants coming together to use their unique abilities to take down formidable bosses.

The First Descendant will release for free on 2 July for PlayStation consoles as well as the Xbox Series X/S. Xbox One and PC.
