If you’re a PlayStation 5 owner, I’d imagine that there’s one major release this year that you’re dying to get your hands on: Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. I would know, because that’s exactly how I feel.
We’re all itching for the next instalment in Insomniac Games’ excellent Marvel’s Spider-Man series. We know that the game is launching this ‘autumn/fall’ - supposedly September, according to Venom actor Tony Todd, to clarify for those of you living in the southern hemisphere. Peter Parker actor Yuri Lowenthal has teased that the game is ‘astonishing’ and just yesterday, PlayStation unveiled a free prequel to the sequel. There’s another Spidey game landing this month though.
Take a look at the teaser trailer for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 below.
To prepare for the launch of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 later this year, Insomniac are finally releasing Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered as a standalone release on PS5 consoles this month. To bring you up to speed, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered was previously only included in Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition.

That’s now going to change as the remastered version of the game will finally launch as a standalone title this month. We don’t have an exact date just yet - we simply know that it’ll launch in May. It’s rumoured that the release could coincide with a major PlayStation showcase later this month. The game will cost $49.99 to purchase and is only available digitally. If you already have the original Marvel’s Spider-Man on PS4, you can pay a $10 upgrade fee. That’s not possible though if you redeemed the game via PS Plus.
The remastered version does what it says on the tin - it improves on the original’s graphics. One of the most controversial changes was the fact that Peter Parker’s character model was redesigned. I’ll confess, I’ve only played the remastered version so i can’t imagine Peter looking any other way - plenty of others can though.
