All this time, we’ve been playing on our Xbox never realising that a secret is looming large right there in our very hands.
In some respects, this is an easy secret to miss.
Yet in other ways, it’s such a prominent feature of the Xbox controller that we can’t help but wonder why we never noticed it before.

We were first alerted to this news by Reddit user Both-Cryptographer-1.

In a post on the Xbox Series X subreddit, they posted, “Today I learnt (after only two years of owning my first Xbox) that the Xbox logo button on the controller is actually called the Nexus button.”

They then explained how they made this discovery.
While they were searching for the latest previews available, the OP noticed it said “report a problem by holding the Nexus button”.
As far as the OP is concerned, this is “truly a revelation”.
But what about other Microsoft users, did they know about this big secret or were they taken by surprise too?

“Idgaf what they say, it’s the Xbox button,” declared user eathotcheeto.
Another gamer agreed that they typically refer to it as the Xbox button or “home”.
It seems we’ve all been wrong.
The discussion takes a turn, though, when a moderator for the subreddit brings to everyone’s attention the official documentation.

Not only does it refer to the Nexus button as the Xbox button, but the same mod claims that Xbox have since confirmed this.
This isn’t to say that the name hasn’t changed since the time the moderator commented; after all, as one Redditor pointed out, brands like to “reinvent themselves”.
If you’d prefer not to concern yourself with the names of Xbox controller features, there’s other news that may be more to your liking.
Xbox has officially unveiled a timely piece of hardware that’ll take us into the next generation of gaming.

Maybe when that next console launches another great debate over what the big button is called will start up again... If that's the case, we hope we don't have to wait several years before learning the truth.
