It is good news for Xbox fans as a recent trailer hints at a new handheld launching later this year.
For many years, we have heard rumours that Microsoft was working on an Xbox handheld console but without direct confirmation, potential fans have had to remain quietly optimistic.
Can it compete with the PlayStation Portal? Check it out in the trailer below!
However, earlier this year, a rumour hinted that Microsoft was partnering up with a third-party company to release an Xbox-branded handheld.

“Branded” is the key word here as it will not be a totally in-house Xbox handheld in the style of, say, the Nintendo Switch, but instead will be made in partnership with another party.
However, this is perhaps just a stopgap whilst Microsoft works on its very own unit.
Nevertheless, rumours of a third-party getting involved have kicked off once again courtesy of a trailer from ASUS.
The trailer showcases the next-generation ASUS ROG Ally gaming handheld and eagle-eyed fans will notice that there is some sneaky Xbox imagery hidden throughout.

If you pay attention, you will notice that at one point in the trailer, a ROG Ally and Xbox-style controller both come together to enter a mysterious machine and we can assume that some sort of blend is happening inside.
So it does not take a genius to see that ASUS is the third-party company that Microsoft has chosen to team-up with.
Luckily, if you are still not convinced, the collaboration was all but confirmed when the official Xbox Twitter account replied to the teaser trailer posted by ASUS with the side-eye monkey meme.
This may not be official written confirmation but by today’s standards, it might as well be.

There is not yet an official release date for the Asus x Xbox collaboration but fans are understandably excited to see the first Xbox-inspired handheld burst onto the scene.
However, will it have what it takes to compete with the greats such as the Steam Deck and Nintendo Switch? We will soon find out.
