Microsoft’s Phil Spencer has been talking about the future of Xbox in a recent interview, dropping hints to the next generation of hardware.
In a chat with Danny Peña, published on YouTube, Spencer discussed the next Xbox console, saying, “I look at hardware as a critical piece of our strategy.”
Xbox's new marketing material claims everything can be an Xbox.
During the interview, he mentioned having already seen the roadmap for future Xbox hardware just last week.

With a roadmap already produced, it’s a positive step for the future of Xbox, but don’t be fooled into thinking the console is on the horizon.
It’s likely there are still a good few years left before the next generation properly starts.
Another highlight from the talk was Spencer touching on the software coming to Xbox. He claimed he has “never been more excited about our game portfolio”.
Hopefully, this will set some minds at ease, as recent rumours and speculation pointed to Microsoft cooling on the idea of producing hardware.

While the Xbox Series S and Series X haven’t perhaps performed well against rivals, it should be a mainstay in the industry for a while longer.
While dancing around the topic of the next console, Spencer expressed that he wants Xbox hardware to be innovative, but they will put games first.
The future sounds bright for the company, and there’s a sense that Spencer feels positive that players will find Xbox competitive for years to come.
The gaming CEO also touched on his own retirement, saying, “When I’m done, I’m done. I don’t think you’ll see me on stages after retiring one day. I want it to be about the teams, not me.”

I wouldn’t assume that will come anytime soon, as he seems energised and ready to meet the challenges that come in the future.
So, if you were concerned about Xbox and their stance on hardware, this should help.
