Xbox users will be able to play a critically-acclaimed PlayStation exclusive this year, though not anytime soon unfortunately.
While PlayStation has some incredible exclusives in its game library like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, God Of War: Ragnarok and The Last Of Us Part II Remastered, it’s very good at taking advantage of timed-exclusives as well.
Speaking of exclusives, The Last Of Us Part II Remastered dropped last Friday, check out our thoughts below
Occasionally PlayStation will get a game first before it eventually makes its way to PC and Xbox, sometimes completely by accident like when Baldur’s Gate 3 only released on PlayStation consoles due to a fault with the Xbox Series S. Currently the best example of a timed-exclusive is Final Fantasy 16, which will supposedly come to Xbox consoles this year.

The Square Enix RPG was released in June 2023 and is currently exclusive to the PlayStation until later this year, something the game’s producer actually disagrees with. Speaking on The Infinite Podcast, insider Shpeshal Nick said the game could arrive on Xbox consoles anytime after June 2024, when the exclusivity deal expires.
For this reason Nick said Xbox fans shouldn’t get their hopes up for an early release, as the game will likely not drop until Q3 2024 at the earliest.
It’s a sad reality but it’ll be worth the wait. Unfortunately you won’t get the same bells and whistles the PS5’s DualSense controllers grant you but it’ll be a must-play for fans of the series, or RPGs in general.
Final Fantasy 16 mixes up the combat to be more like an action-based RPG rather than turn-based. Combat feels more fluid and when you combine that with the gorgeous graphics and console-melting boss battles you’ve got an incredible game worth sticking around for.

You can currently play Final Fantasy 16 on PlayStation 5 with the PC and Xbox version hopefully on the way sooner rather than later.
