It’s been rumoured for quite some time now that Microsoft is preparing to launch an Xbox handheld.
Last year, whispers arose to suggest that the console was further along in development than perhaps many of us expected, with insiders now claiming that it’s due to launch this year.
Windows Central recently published a report claiming that while Xbox isn’t set to debut a next-gen console until 2027, a “PC gaming OEM” will launch in 2025.

The device is supposedly being developed under the codename Keenan and will, according to the report, look “unmistakably Xbox”.
While I have to say, I’m surprised by the imminent arrival of the handheld, I'm not surprised by its existence.
Microsoft’s Phil Spencer has been very vocal in recent years that the handheld space is one the company is keen to grow into.
Could it be something we hear about at this year’s summer Xbox Showcase?

It would be great to see what the console is capable of - and I’m hoping it is a standalone, as opposed to something like the PlayStation Portal which relies on a base console connection.
The other big questions concern the console’s price and name.
Of course, fans are on hand with naming suggestions although I’m warning you, there’s more than a few tongue in cheek suggestions.
Avowed recently launched on Xbox to rave reviews. It should scratch the itch of Elder Scrolls fans.
Reddit user Robemilak recently asked fellow fans what he thought the handheld should be called.

“The Series XS,” suggested JacksLack_ofSurprise. Very clever actually.
“Xbox Series P,” 11wacko11 replied, with P standing for portable.
“Xbox Nomad,” contributed These-arent-my-pants.
User hufferstl had this to say: “Use this thing as an opportunity to fix the Xbox naming scheme. Call it the Xbox 5 (use a silhouette of a hand in some way to show that it's a handheld). Then the next Xbox can be called Xbox 6 and we don't have to worry about the dumb name ever again.”

Other suggestions included the Xbox Series Xx, Exbox, Xboy, Xdeck, Xpad, and Xplay.
One particular shout that made me laugh was “To Go Box”.
Hopefully, Microsoft has something good up its sleeve or at the very least, something that isn’t confusing.
