Xbox Series X/S can download a brand new Fallout freebie to celebrate the show's upcoming premiere.

Amazon Prime’s upcoming TV adaptation of Fallout is coming at us thick and fast. I can’t say the same for Fallout 5 but hey, we take the victories where we can.

The show is set to premiere on 11 April, with a new trailer landing just yesterday. Fallout is set to tell us a brand new story, centring around the characters of Vault 33. The series comes from Westworld creators Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan, yes the brother of Christopher Nolan, with Jonathan recently referring to the series as ‘almost like Fallout 5’ but a “non-interactive version of it”, and I can see what he’s getting at. After all, it’s been a while since we got to enjoy a brand new Fallout tale.

Take a look at Fallout’s new trailer below.

The show will take place in California, marking a drastic change for the franchise. Ella Purnell’s Lucy is a vault dweller-turned explorer but that’s about the extent of what we know. Aaron Moten will play Maximus, a member of the Brotherhood of Steel, while Walton Goggins portrays a cowboy-esque Ghoul.

To celebrate the show’s somewhat imminent premiere, Xbox has dropped a brand new dynamic background usable on Xbox Series X/S consoles featuring Lucy leaving the safety of Vault 33. It’s available to use right now and you can see this free treat in action below.

That’s not the only Fallout-themed surprise we got this week. A new series of Fallout designs are now available to customise and purchase in the Xbox Design Lab meaning you can nab yourself a controller to replay an old Fallout favorite. It’ll have to be an old favourite because who knows if we’ll still be using our Series X/S consoles by the time Fallout 5 drops.
