Xbox Achievements are finally being overhauled in massive 2024 update

It is time... for Xbox to give us something worth gaming for

The saying goes “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”, yet with Xbox Achievements it’s fair to say it’s been pretty broken for some time now. Thankfully, we’re about to get a massive overhaul in one of Xbox’s 2024 updates.

As much as I love my Xbox, there are issues with it, one of which being the achievements; as one fellow gamer explains, the “social and achievement UI needs an overhaul” so that the two are better integrated.

What better way to celebrate this Xbox overhaul than watching, and playing, Cat Quest!

Despite not being able to confirm whether this is indeed what Microsoft have been toiling away with behind the scenes, rumours are circulating that a quality-of-life update for achievements is on its way.

According to Twitter user @Shpeshal_Nick, Xbox is “nearly done” with its achievement overhaul, with that overhaul said to go live at some point this year, though when specifically that is, no one can say. Naturally, now that the rumour mill is in overload, every gamer and their dog is trying to figure out what exactly this overhaul will change.

“I just want them to give me something for obtaining them like back in the day,” said one player, before reminiscing about the good ol’ days. “Did y'all forget you got free alternate costumes or cheats or something you can use to play in a ton of older games? Now they sell you that as DLC and achievements give you nothing for the effort. The empty pop-up is crap.”

Another gamer simply said what everyone is really thinking, and longing for, “Xbox getting a version of PlayStation’s platinum trophy would be nice.” There it is, the truth of the matter: gamers want to well the elation they get when collecting PS Trophies, though no one can really say why that feeling is better than an Xbox Achievement…

Whatever this overhaul entails, when it’s finally launched, we hope it makes the process of obtaining achievements more satisfying.
