A surprise free download shouldn’t cause confusion, but this Xbox freebie has proven to be an oddity that has some gamers stumped.
When Twitter account @Wario64 shared that Star Wars Battlefront II: Celebration Edition is currently free for Game Pass Ultimate members, gamers started to plan their evening gaming sessions accordingly.
But soon comments started to appear that said the game isn’t free but is in fact £3.99.

While that price is hardly offensive – it's cheaper than most coffees – it still wasn't what users expected to see.

User @JoeOfTheSith shared, “Must have been a bug and they caught it. It’s now $3.99. Damn.”

To this, they were quickly asked if they whadere signed in when they tried to claim the freebie.
Despite more fans successfully bagging this title for free than not, there are still those who, try as they might, couldn’t get it without paying.
“Didn’t come up free but for $3.99 I went ahead and purchased,” revealed @koopa_king88.
If you can claim this bargain, now is the time to act, as the deal will be over and done with in less than 24 hours.
Should you be one of the unlucky Xbox users struggling to unlock this freebie, we’re sorry.

That being said, $3.99 is still really cheap, so you might want to follow @koopa_king88 in biting the bullet and just making the purchase.
But before you do, double – no, triple – check that you can’t get it for free.
Described as a “great game” that simply deserved better support, there are plenty of fans singing the praises of the title, warts and all.
When you can get a free download like this, why would you say no? Besides the obvious issue mentioned above.

Hopefully, you’re in the process of downloading Battlefront II as we speak.
If not, commiserations, my friends.
