PlayStation shadow drops surprise exclusive on Xbox, available now

Special delivery!

One of PlayStation’s biggest exclusive games in recent years has just been shadowdropped on Xbox Series X/S and it’s available now.

Developed by Kojima Productions, Death Stranding was originally released on PlayStation 4 in 2019 before arriving on PC. It then benefited from a Director’s Cut on PS5 in 2021 that not only boasted improved visuals and performance but also came with brand-new content.

Check out the Death Stranding: Director’s Cut trailer below!

“In the future, a mysterious event known as the Death Stranding has opened a doorway between the living and the dead, leading to grotesque creatures from the afterlife roaming the fallen world marred by a desolate society,” reads the synopsis of the game. “As Sam Bridges, your mission is to deliver hope to humanity by connecting the last survivors of a decimated America.”

Now, after waiting years for Sam Porter Bridges to deliver the goods, Death Stranding: Director’s Cut is available to download on the green brand. What’s more, if you buy it now from the Xbox Marketplace, you’ll get a tidy 50% discount bringing the price down from £34.99 to £17.49.

Though I must warn you, Death Stranding is a very marmite game, in other words, you’re either going to love it or hate it. For me, I love it and it is a slow-burn story, but please stick with it.

Hopefully, this new release can keep us busy until the sequel arrives on PlayStation 5. Death Stranding 2: On The Beach does not have a release date yet but it is expected to arrive sometime in 2025.

With a bit of luck, we’ll finally get that elusive release date for Death Stranding 2: On The Beach next month during The Game Awards 2024. We’ll be having our fingers crossed and we’ll keep you posted if that information drops.
