Halo fans have reason to believe the franchise’s co-creator Marcus Lehto is returning to work on the next game.
While Halo: Infinite was a step in the right direction for the Halo series, it unfortunately still hasn’t brought the franchise back to what it once was, which could change with the next game.

Something Halo: Infinite did right was partially reboot the series by eliminating plot points that just weren’t working before, opening the door for many possibilities in the games to come.

Despite the next game not being officially confirmed by 343 Industries or Microsoft, insiders claim it is indeed happening, and it’ll reportedly use Unreal Engine 5 to achieve some truly impressive graphics.
Somewhat coincidentally, Halo’s co-creator Marcus Lehto recently tweeted something that has fans wondering if he’s returning to the fray.
Last week Lehto said: “Really love being back in Unreal Engine after about 3 years. Dusting off my skills and acclimating to all the new awesome stuff in UE5. So good.”
Before this Lehto was reportedly toying with the idea of retirement, though it seems plans have changed.

Of course if the rumours about the next Halo game are true and it does indeed use Unreal Engine 5, then there’s certainly a possibility Lehto is joining the team at 343 Industries to help craft the next sci-fi adventure.
It wouldn’t be the first time either, as Halo’s best writer, Joseph Staten, returned to the series to work on Halo: Infinite, and while he did eventually leave Microsoft entirely to work on Netflix games his impact seemingly did a world of good for the game.
The next Halo game is still unconfirmed, but as Xbox’s biggest IP it’s basically inevitable, that being said whether it’s a true sequel or a complete reboot is anyone’s guess.
