The countdown to Grand Theft Auto VI is going faster by the day but a recent update has left some fans worried if they will be able to play the highly-anticipated game at all.

As of right now, Grand Theft Auto VI is expected to be released this time next year, and as one of the most anticipated games of all time, it is no wonder that fans are getting ready to dive in.

Check out the first official trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI below!

Expected to first launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S before being added to PC at a later date, it seems as though console users will have the upper hand, much like they did with the release of Grand Theft Auto V.

However, according to a recent comment by ex-Rockstar employee Obbe Vermeij, not everybody will be as lucky.

Vermeij, who previously worked on Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City, San Andreas and IV before leaving Rockstar, recently took to Twitter to share his thoughts about the next instalment.

On top of explaining that Rockstar will be in no rush to release GTA VI considering it “will sell for 10+ years”, he also replied to a comment about how much of an issue the title will be for the Xbox Series S.

As we already know, the Xbox Series S is the less powerful sister console to the Xbox Series X so it is no wonder that some players are worried about how GTA VI will perform on it.

“There's quite a performance gap between the Series S and the PS5 pro,” Vermeij explained.

“In an ideal world, VI would run at 30fps on [Xbox X/S] and PS5 and 60fps on the Pro. The Series S is a headache for devs for sure.”

This is not the first time we have heard about the Xbox Series S being a “headache” for developers with changes having to be made to cater to its lower performance.

However, as it stands, Grand Theft Auto VI will arrive to both the Series X and Series S so it remains to be seen how it will run.

Luckily, we don’t have much longer until we find out.
