There’s been a lot of chatter about the Far Cry franchise lately, and if that’s got you wanting to check out the most recent game in the series, now’s a great time to dive into it.
In case you missed it, it was recently alleged that Far Cry 7 is in development, although if the rumours are to be believed, it won’t actually be called Far Cry 7 at all. According to a so-called insider, the next game will be titled Far Cry: Rise, and it’ll apparently take place on the remote tropical island of Kimsan, located in the Yellow Sea. As for the plot, it’s claimed that the island has been taken over by North Korean insurgents, and players will step into the shoes of a male or female Korean idol who must fight to survive and protect their sibling from the insurgency. At the time of writing though, Ubisoft is yet to confirm if any of this is true.

Anyway, whether or not Far Cry 7 (or whatever it’s going to be called) is actually going to hit our screens any time soon, if you want to get caught up on Far Cry 6, you can download a free trial for the game on Xbox One, Series X/S, PS4, PS5 or PC (via the Epic Games Store or Ubisoft Connect) right now. Obviously, this will only give players a taste of the full game, but any progress you make will be carried over to the full game if you later decide to buy it.

Additionally, anyone who’s currently paying for an Extra or Premium-tier PlayStation Plus subscription is currently able to play the entirety of Far Cry 6 via the Game Catalogue, which is great. It’ll only be playable this way for as long as Sony is willing to keep it in the Game Catalogue, though, so be sure to get to it while you can if you’re interested.
